India vs West Indies, IND Playing 11 vs WI (Predicted), 2nd ODI, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. The 2nd ODI between India and West Indies will be played on Sunday, the 24th of July at the same venue Trinidad, Port of Spain and it will begin at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT). India beat West Indies by three runs in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series in Trinidad.
It was a nail-biting scenario for Team India as they clinched the first ODI in emphatic style to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. After missing out on a hundred, Shikhar Dhawan-led visitors were made to sweat as it took a final ball flourish for Team India to win by three runs and secure the win. India will now eye a series win on Sunday as they are high on confidence having won a close match.
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna defended 38 off the last three overs – weathering an onslaught from Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd – to seal a three-run win. This was after the fifties from Shikhar Dhawan (97), his opening partner Shubman Gill (64) and No. 3 batter Shreyas Iyer (54) helped India to 308. They were on course to a score around 350, thanks to the 119-run opening stand, but West Indies clawed back by varying their lengths and pace to restrict the visitors.
Invited to bat, India posted a mammoth 308 for 7 with captain Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with a 99-ball 97. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 64 and 54 respectively. Chasing a record target, the West Indies could only score 305 for 6 in 50 overs.
Team India was dealt a huge blow ahead of the opening contest against the West Indies with Ravindra Jadeja struggling with a knee issue. Later, he was ruled out of the ODI series.
The visitors will be hoping to go for the same Playing XI in the 2nd ODI, which will therefore rule out an ODI debut for Arshdeep Singh as he continues to warm the bench.

Shikhar Dhawan
The ODI series against West Indies will be Shikhar Dhawan’s second assignment as Indian team captain after the left-handed batter led the side during the Sri Lanka tour last year in ODIs and T20Is. Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in the ODIs against England.
The duo forged their sixth 100-plus partnership at The Oval. He made scores of 31 not out, 9, and 1 in the England ODIs, where he averaged a paltry 20.5 amassing 41 runs. He top scored in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies. His 97 of 99 balls consisted of 10 fours and 3 sixes. He will be disappointed after missing out on a century but will look to carry on in the same vein in the next 2 ODIs.
