The New York Mets welcomed a newcomer over the weekend when first baseman and designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The 29-year-old slugger is hitting .229 with 12 home runs, 34 RBI, and a .769 OPS.

The Mets picked him up in hopes of adding some pop from the DH position.

The Mets picked up their first win with Vogelbach on their side last night against the San Diego Padres, as the offense busted out for eight runs.

After the game, Vogelbach had nothing but great things to say about playing in New York.

SNY, the TV home of the Mets tweeted a video of his postgame interview.

Vogelbach Enjoying NYC So Far

It appears the Mets have a happy camper on their hands.

Vogelbach was acquired on Friday in exchange for reliever Colin Holderman.

On Sunday night, he picked up his first hit in a Mets uniform as New York won 8-5.

But it’s always nice for a fanbase to see their team’s new addition fitting in rather quickly with his new teammates.

That has to make the Mets and their fans feel good.

Being traded mid-season is always tough for any player, but for Vogelbach, it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue.

He seems to enjoy playing in the Big Apple.

He enjoyed the crowd and seemed to be excited about getting a chance to call New York home for the next few months.

That’s what you want out of a new addition to the team.

You want him to soak up the atmosphere of his new home and hit the ground running.

That’s what Vogelbach has done here with his new squad.

We’ll see if he can help bring the Mets some good moments this year.
