Ravens’ Lamar Jackson calls out Bernard Pollard in Twitter feud: ‘I had to Google you’

Former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard invoked the wrath of Lamar Jackson with comments he made about the quarterback on Tuesday and Wednesday.

First, Pollard weighed in on an ESPN debate about Jackson’s status among the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. Former Steelers safety turned ESPN analyst Ryan Clark spoke in favor of Jackson as a top-10 quarterback while Pollard didn’t believe that Jackson deserved that designation.

“He’s def a Top 10 talent, but as for a Top 10 QB I don’t see it,” Pollard wrote. “I believe he should get paid by the Ravens and should get TOP dollar!”

Jackson paid no attention to Pollard’s tweet, so not much was made of it.

Then Wednesday came, and everything changed.

Pollard once again took the time to criticize Jackson. This time, he criticized Jackson’s passing talent and claimed that no top wide receiver would go to Baltimore because of it.

After that, Jackson decided to strike back. He tweeted back at Pollard, saying that he had “never heard” of him and asked why Pollard was consistently coming after him.

Naturally, Pollard brought up in his response to Jackson that he was a Super Bowl champion. From there, the duo got into an extended Twitter feud. Below is a full account of their interactions.

Eventually, Pollard stopped responding to Jackson. The Ravens’ quarterback, however, wasn’t done taking shots at Pollard and sent out a few more tweets about Pollard, criticizing his play, his fame and his dance moves during a season of “Hard Knocks” with the Chiefs.

It seems like Jackson is going to use the criticism from Pollard to motivate him as he goes into a contract season with the Ravens. In 2021, Jackson completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 2,882 yards, 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 12 games. He also ran for 767 yards and two touchdowns.

In his 2019 MVP season, Jackson completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 3,127 yards, an NFL-high 36 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He added 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground while his QBR of 83 led the league.

Meanwhile, Pollard finished his nine-year NFL career with 712 tackles, 10.5 sacks and 12 interceptions in nine years. He did win a Super Bowl with the Ravens; however, he is best known for his low tackle on Tom Brady in the 2008 NFL season opener. Brady tore his ACL on the play and missed the season.
