Today would have been Robin Williams’ 71st birthday and the actor’s fans are commemorating him by sharing their favorite scenes, characters, and movies starring the comedian on social media.
During the early hours of Thursday, ‘Remembering Robin Williams‘ began trending on Twitter as thousands of users posthumously celebrated the comedian and his impact on comedy, Hollywood, and conversations surrounding mental health using #RobinWilliams.

The Oscar-winning actor, who is best known for his roles in Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Good Will Hunting (1997), and Mork & Mindy (1978), took his own life back in 2014 after battling depression and early stages of Parkinson’s Disease. He was 63.
In honor of his lifelong dedication to making others feel good, Twitter users shared some of their favorite clips from popular films starring the comedian.
“Today would have been #RobinWilliams 71st birthday. What a legend in film he will always be,” one wrote alongside a photo collage of Williams in character for a variety of roles.
Another tweeted: “Remembering Comedy Icon #RobinWilliams on what would have been his 71st birthday today. Never Forgotten, Always Loved and Forever Missed. RIP Robin (1951-2014).”

A video of one of the actor’s most influential scenes was also widely shared alongside the comment: “Robin Williams was born on this day in 1951. One of the most beloved comics and actors of his generation, here’s his emotionally charged monologue from Good Will Hunting (1997).”
And someone else took the time to sequence a heartfelt fan cam of his starring roles captioned: “Remembering Robin Williams on his birthday July 21st 1951~August 11th 2014.”
Others remembered the comedian with some of his most memorable quotes–both on screen and off.
“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world,” a fan tweeted with a photo of the esteemed actor.

While some fans are still distraught over the loss of the legendary actor, many have found comfort knowing that his legacy as the world’s greatest comedian will live on forever.
