Barcelona vs Real Madrid live score, updates, highlights & lineups from El Clasico in Las Vegas

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid will go head-to-head in a preseason match from Las Vegas in one of the high-profile matches of the summer preseason for European clubs.

Barcelona are in the midst of a four-game U.S. tour which started with a 6-0 blanking of MLS side Inter Miami. Six different players scored, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, newcomer Raphinha and youngster Ansu Fati. That match came too soon for star signing Robert Lewandowski, who could make his debut in Las Vegas.

In addition to El Clasico in Las Vegas, Barcelona will play matches against Juventus (July 27) and MLS’s New York Red Bulls (July 31). After a traditional preseason Joan Gamper Cup match against Mexico’s Pumas UNAM (Aug. 7), Barca will kick off the Spanish La Liga season at home against Rayo Vallecano (Aug. 13).

This is Real Madrid’s first preseason match with their first official competition coming up on Aug. 10 in the UEFA Super Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt. Their La Liga season opener comes on Aug. 14 away to Almeria. The Real Madrid preseason will be played on U.S. soil with matches against Club America (July 27) and Juventus (July 31) up next.

Sporting News is following the match live and providing live score updates and commentary.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid live updates, highlights from Las Vegas

Halftime: Barcelona 1, Real Madrid 0

Halftime: It was intense. It was electric. That’s El Clasico. You’d never have known it was preseason. The game has been end to end, and Barcelona have the lead thanks to a magical play by Raphinha, who took advantage of a poor giveaway. Real Madrid had a handful of poor turnovers and their defending hasn’t been of the lockdown variety that it was at the tail end of last season.

Robert Lewandowski has applied himself and he pressed hard in that first half. He had two good looks, one stopped by the ‘keeper and the other blocked by his former teammate David Alaba. Meanwhile, fellow Barcelona newcomer Raphinha was quiet, only to show up in a big way on the goal.

44th min.: After a hard foul by Jordi Alba on Vinicius (Alba gets a yellow), there’s a tussle between the two teams on the field. And Ronaldo Araujo and Antonio Rudiger go nose-to-nose.

42nd min.: Over recent minutes Real Madrid are getting to the Barcelona box. A Vinicius shot was blocked, and a Rodrygo cross was saved by Ter Stegen.

35th min.: Poor Eden Hazard sacrificing himself in the center forward position for Real Madrid and he took a foul from Andreas Christensen, who got a yellow card. It wasn’t the first hard foul tonight.

32nd min.: What a chance for Lewandowski! Raphinha drifts to the left side and fizzes a cross into the center of the box and Lewandowski redirects toward goal, but David Alaba blocks it.

27th min.: Goal Barcelona! Raphinha with the spectacular finish into the top right corner! And it was abominable defending from Real Madrid with Eder Militao inexplicably kicking the ball across the top of his penalty area and it landed right on Raphinha’s foot. He took care of the rest.

26th min.: Antonio Rudiger with a marauding run from his left back position. We’ve seen this from him before at Chelsea and he fires just wide of Barcelona’s goal. But it’s the defensive job he’s doing on Raphinha that’s especially notable so far. We haven’t heard a peep from Raphinha.

20th min.: Pedri strips Eduardo Camavinga of the ball in the Real Madrid box and serves Ansu Fati, but Barcelona’s attacker shoots wide. He needed to get that on target.

17th min.: Real Madrid hit the post! Federico Valverde with a beautiful shot that slams off the woodwork. That would’ve been a sensational long-distance goal.

11th min.: Robert Lewandowski with his first attempt on goal and it’s stopped by Thibaut Courtois. He turned on David Alaba quite easily at the halfway line.

7th min.: It’s been an electric start to the match played at a frenetic pace. Barcelona are pressing high attempting to force turnovers. Real Madrid are looking for chances to play direct.

3rd min.: Antonio Rudiger is playing left back. Lewandowski is flanked by Ansu Fati (left) and Raphinha (right). Ronald Araujo is playing at right back for Barcelona.

1st min.: El Clasico is underway from Las Vegas.

5 mins from kickoff: The teams are on the field and handshakes are out of the way. We’re almost set for the debuts by Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) and Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid).

10 mins from kickoff: The fans are definitely ready for this at Allegiant Stadium:

115 mins from kickoff: New club creative from Barcelona and there’s no Lewandowski in this image:

120 mins from kickoff: Will Robert Lewandowski debut tonight against Real Madrid? The club’s own promo material has him front and center and there’s speculation he could come into the second half.
